Hey photogs.
Thanks again for your involvement with the Buckhead Photography Project.
As I said in our initial meeting, this has been a project. As with any project we have learned a lot through this initial assignment.
We have been blown away at the quality of photographs we have received and our attendees LOVE them. So thank you.
I know that things have changed and quick deadlines have been made in order to make sure we have your photos in time for the relationship series. We came across several issues with flickr which forced us to use an FTP site to print your pictures. We didn’t for see this challenge and apologize for the inconvenience it has caused some of you.
We are very apologetics about having to change the gallery night as well. As we thought about that night, we realized that only 20-40 people would show up in our lobby. Our lobby holds about 2,000 people so we thought this space would look pretty empty with only a few dozen people. Our sincere desire is to create an environment for you to show off your work and receive the most exposure.
We purposely changed the gallery viewing to Sunday, May 31st so that we could tell more people about who you guys are and show off your talents. We would love for your potential clients to come that night but we know this last minute change may hinder their attendance.
We want to apologize for the lack of communication and quick changes made during this project. We have learned a lot from this first assignment. Thank you for being patient with us. We would like to entertain the idea of more assignments in the future but at this venture we need to re-structure our process to make participating in this project an advantage for you.
Currently, anyone who participated in this project has their photos hanging in our lobby. If you are not able to make the gallery night on May 31st, please stop by during the week and we would love to show you your pictures. After May 31st, we would be happy to give you your photo. We will have them here at the church for you to pick up if you are interested.
Thanks again for being patient and flexible with us.

We are looking for pictures of a cross, anything in the shape of a cross or forming a cross. The photos will be edited together into a video. The concept is to keep the cross shape in the same place with each changing photograph but allow the backgrounds to change. So…the photographs need to be taken from the front so that the cross appears flat. Side shots won’t work since the cross shape will be skewed. Try not to chop off the edges of the cross if possible, leave some extra room to allow the photo to be repositioned in the editing process. Please take the pictures in landscape format, this will translate better to video. We would also love to have a mixture of shots ranging from colorful to dark tones, as the video will progress from colorful to dark.
Here are some simple examples for framing… the style is up to you.
PLEASE DO NOT USE STOCK PHOTOS. We want your work not someone elses!!!
SO UPLOAD THEM TO YOUR FLICKER ACCOUNT AND ADD THEM TO THIS GROUP

We are thrilled by the number of photographers interested in participating. After our initial meeting we realized that due to the volume of photographers we would need to limit the number of participants per assignment. So, the 1st assignment for the Buckhead Photography Project GALLERY is now full. For the 1st assignment, we automatically added all attendees from our first meeting which added up to around 50 people. We’ve only been able to add about 5 more for this first assignment.
We apologize for any confusion this may have been for those of you not able to participate in assignment #1. If you have not been contacted by Lauren Espy, you will not be participating in assignment #1, however we would love for you to be apart of our next assignment. All the details will be forthcoming.
We will be using our media sources such as twitter and our blog to keep participants and non-participants in the know about the 1st assignment and first gallery showing. Any updates on the blog and twitter may only apply to participants so we don’t want this to cause additional confusion.
Please feel free to ask any questions about the process. This is an experiment for us and for you guys. Thanks for understanding and for your feedback!!!

Hey guys. It’s Carlos.
First of all let me let you know how astounded I am at the level of interest surrounding the Buckhead Photography Project.
There were over 60 photogs there!!!
There are LOT’S of people asking questions that we are going to answer in video form later today.
For now here is what our buddy Zack had to say…
Here is a horrible photo I took of a great event we had at the studio tonight. I get so busy talking that I always forget to shoot pictures. Typical. Thanks to all who came out for this first of, hopefully, many BPP GTG’s. We had about 60 photographers show up tonight. It was great meeting some of you for the first time and reconnecting with ya’ll who I done hadn’t seen for a spell. Sorry to those of you who I didn’t have time to chat with.
The BPP site is barely there right now but I need to let everyone know that it is .org. Not .com as stated by a certain guy tonight (Carlos). Ahem. Big thanks to Lauren and Carlos for casting a vision for this project that they have dreamed up. Buckhead church has a HUGE building here in Atlanta. As you walk in to the main foyer you are greeted by throngs of people and blank walls. Being the big supporter of the arts that they are, they have dreamed up a plan to turn those blank walls into a photography gallery. They are looking for images for each sermon series that they will be doing.
Tonight we were given an assignment to submit photos for a series about “relationships”. Healthy or unhealthy relationships. Great ones, broken ones. Whatever. Relationships can be simple or complex.
I really excited about one assignment coming up in the fall. They are planning on an assignment for a series called “moments.” Your life can change in a moment right? Our goal will be to go out and shoot life changing moments.
Again… Thanks to Lauren and Carlos for putting this together. Keep an eye on the site for more details. Remember… that site is only partially live. They are still working on it. Also note that I’m just a host and a willing participant. I can probably answer some questions but this isn’t my baby.
